TAPPA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

May 2008

A warm welcome goes out to all of TAPPA’s newest members, joining us for the first time.  We are growing in leaps and bounds and remain strong through the dedication of our membership.  The Board recently wrote and adopted our new Mission Statement and wholly believes in raising the Art of Photography to its highest standards.  For many of us, giving back to our communities is one way to not only share our talents, but  also the chance for us to show the public the difference in choosing a ‘professional’ photographer.  And it creates good karma.  TAPPA commends and celebrates our members who donate their time and talents for the benefit and cause for others.  Organizations such as Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, Flashes of Hope, Faces of  Courage, All Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Cancer Center, and the Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay, and Pinellas/Pasco are just a few that our members are involved with.  If you’re looking for a way to get involved, please contact a board member for more information.  There is nothing more rewarding than sharing your talents and bringing happiness to others by simply doing what you love.

Speaking of doing what we love…FPP’s Florida School is just around the corner!  I hope to see a lot of you there (and wearing your TAPPA lanyard proudly!).  It’s an unparalleled educational opportunity and you are guaranteed to come back with your head filled, your feet off the ground, and a whole bunch of new friends!  If you haven’t already signed up, or are still considering it, you need to bust a move because classes are filling up and selling out fast. For all the info, go to www.fppfloridaschool.com.

Lots of exciting things ahead for TAPPA; if you missed the last meeting, then you haven’t heard the announcement that we have contracted with Proofcast to create an online database system for us, just like the one on the new FPP website.  What does that mean for our members?  You will soon have the opportunity to upload samples of your own work and link directly from the TAPPA site, as well as pay your dues and meeting fees online!   As evidence, your Board is hard at work to raise TAPPA to the highest level possible and help promote the professionalism of our organization.

Lastly, remember to keep your calendars marked for Sunday, June 22nd for the TAPPA Family Picnic at Ft. DeSoto Park.  We’ve got lots of fun, food and music planned for the day, including a camp councilor to keep the kids entertained with organized games and activities.  Bikes, ‘blades and bathing suits are all welcome; bring your musical instrument of choice for an upbeat jam session  and plan on kicking back and relaxing for the day.  We’ll give you all the details next month, and until then…
